GOD HEARD ELIJAH BECAUSE ELIJAH HEARD GOD
Elijah was a unique man of God, which many prophets want to be like because of his relationship with God. Elijah represent the era of the prophets in the land of Israel. The name of his parents was not mention, and no one know his origin. He was respected by kings, and queen of Israel. He lock up the heaven and put the key inside his pocket. He made a whole nation to experience famine for three and a half years. When the time came to open the heaven, he called on to the king to witness it, and he slain eight hundred and fifty prophets of Baal that eat from the table of jezebel. He was the one who called down fire upon the messengers of the king to show the supremacy of God in the land of Israel. He brought down the reign of Ahab and jezebel who came to introduce Baal as the national god in Israel. When he was about to leave the earth, he never experienced phisical death, he was carried away with chariot of fire. Jesus even said ” he was John the Baptist, and no prophets is higher than him”. The reasons of Elijah power is that he heard God.
One of the characteristics of Elijah that made him supreme is ” commitment”.
Elijah was a man of commitment, he followed God the way he led, he never complained. When God asked him to go and stay by the brook of Cherith, he went there without complain, even though it was bird that was feeding him, without knowing the kitchen the food was brought from, he stayed there until God said he should advance to widow’s house. How many men of God of nowadays listen to God in such manner. We are always in a rush to be known all over the world, the prayers of some even center on popularity. Many want to have the power of Elijah, but they don’t want to follow the way of Elijah in serving God. Most prophets of nowadays want to oversee the City churches, even if they were posted to a remotest area, they will obliged; thinking that it is retrogression on their sides. Many love the praises of men, and were still controlling by men, but Elijah was not under the control of any man, even the king feared him. Many pastors loves to take pictures with the people of high Calibre, even though they never won their soul for God, we want to be identified with men of authority as long as we can only act like slave to the people of power. We gave them revelation of ” all is well” because of the envelope they will offer, whereas they are under the condemnation of God. Even thought it remain only Elijah that was serving God in Israel, he never back down, when the other prophets were hiding inside the cave, he came out to face them in battle, when he single handedly killed the prophets of Baal. Many christians are the one dictating for God nowadays, we send him on groceries shopping, to get all what we want, not for us to do what He want. It is “let my wish be fulfilled, not let your will be done”.
In the time of hardship, Elijah never deny God, even though no one left, he was still remain dedicated unto the God of Israel. If one Elijah is in this Nation, no one will dare insult the God of the christians. But because we are on our own, no cares for the brethren among the children of God. Devil is using his agent to trample upon Christianity, and many still desire to dine on the devil’s table for a morsel of bread. We the children of God have sold our birth right to obtain self glory. No man of God has ever been popular among the heathen, but all what we cared for, is for our popularity not to diminished in the world of decadence. Why will they not trample on our heritage, when all what a christian desire is to stand at the front of a president and governors to receive handshake and post it on internet? The people that detest your God. Have you ever rejoice for standing at the presence of God, to receive God approval for your life? How many of us has ever pray for the deliverance of this Nation from the hand of taskmaster? Mordecai told Esther, ” who knows may be because of this you came to the throne”. Elijah was never greedy the way many men of God are greedy this day. He never desire to eat the food on the king’s table, but the food provided by God through the widow. He stay where God put him, even though if it was the brook of water. He show himself when God ask him to. He was never in hurry, and fought the battle of God till he left the earth, and God honour him, by taken him away without seeing death. How many of us can walk the way of Elijah to success?
