We need to activate this gift in us because it’s gradually dwindling among the saints: the Bible says, if it’s possible, they might deceive the elects; it’s because there is high rises of deception in this present time, that many shall be carried away by false doctrine and false teaching.
True Life Example of Discernment of Spirits
There was a church in United States of America, where a former agent of darkness claimed to be born again.
One of her former members in occult came to the church as a member, but this woman quickly recognized him and told the pastor to be very careful of this man, because he has never repented.
But because of financial status of the man, the pastor of this church refused to listen to that advice and put the man in important position in the congregation, this gave the man power to infiltrate the church and scattered it by introducing Strange doctrine.
Had the pastor listened to the voice of the spirit, the church wouldn’t have fell into the hand of the devil.
Why We Need The Gift of Discernment of Spirits
As deception is increasing, we need a high level of discernment of spirits in our walk with God and in our relationship with fellow humans, to be able to discern right from wrong and almost right from absolutely right, if not, Satan will take advantage of us.
There is one thing that separates fake from real and the original from counterfeit; one important part of the doctrine of the Bible will be removed or one thing of the world will be added.
Identifying False Teachings By The Discernment of Spirits
- Some churches removed tithes from their doctrine, while some added worldliness and marine dressing to their worship, either minus or addition, all are sin in the sight of God. The Bible declared that whoever add to this book of prophecy, all the plague in the book shall be added to his life and whoever removed out of it, God shall take away his part out of the book of life.
- Some based their doctrine on teaching the word only without or with little prayers, how will the church wade off the attacks of Satan if they refuse to pray? and those who based on prayers alone without studying the word, how will they know the mind of God concerning a situation or attain the level of Christ stature? This allowed Satan to penetrate when the door has been open for him due to negligency of the leaders.
- Some churches magnify the work of darkness more than what God can do, they made their members believe in the power of Satan and put his fear in them with what they teach, instead of teaching the congregation the power of God and His efficiency and also teach them His fear, so they won’t sin against Him.
Some are even afraid of each other in the church, believing they can be attacked by associating with any of the brethren.
This prevent them from helping each others, so they won’t take their case to the coven; this is not the message of love that Christ want to establish in our relationship with Him and the brethren.
Had they know that the fearful and all liars shall have their part in lake of fire, they wouldn’t have consented to the doctrine of demons.
When they’re doing this to wet tree, what will they do to the dry ones? since the are afraid to relate with each other, how will they take the gospel to the infidels with that kind of mindset?
This is the antics of the devil to keep the church in a spot without producing fruits to the kingdom, even if they bring forth disciples, they will produce after their own kind, twice the children of hell.
If not that Paul was able to discern the damsel that keep on following him with that kind of revelation, she would have intrude into his ministry and scattered the program of God for them.
Importance of Discernment In The Church
Lack of discernment is what make the church in thyatira accommodate Jezebel in their midst, and the church of pergamos that embraced the doctrine of Balaam; and they started teaching and seducing the servant of God to commit fornication and eat food sacrifice to idols.
Jesus Christ warned seven churches in the book of revelation, only one of them seems to be perfect, all others are almost, but they were not perfect, and Christ warned them so that He won’t remove their candlestick.
He wants perfect church, it’s discernment of spirits that can achieve it and differentiate the perfect from almost perfect, which is short of perfection in God’s sight.
Prayer; Father Lord, send discerning spirit into your church oh Lord, we need it in our present situation, in Jesus name amen.
