Gen 18:19 ( For I know him, that he will command his children and his households after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgement, that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.)
Previously on : Christian Legacy To The Upcoming Generation
What God testified about Abraham—that He knows that he will train his children in the way of the Lord—what is God’s testimony about you?
This surely manifested in Abraham’s life, including his children, to the third and fourth generations that followed the will of God.
parents. It manifested in the life of Joseph in slavery because of the legacy of his parents; he refused to fall into sexual temptation because of the consequences of committing sin against God.
Children’s hearts are the most receptive; whatever we give them is not a waste; they will keep it in their memory and use it when the time comes. Children also learn by example; we can’t train them in the way of God if we are not living that way; it’s necessary for us to live by example for them to follow.
A Christian that is bleaching has no right to tell her children not to do so; they copied what we do. If it’s against the will of God, why are you doing it? We must live by example if we want them to grow uprightly in God’s way.
If you don’t want them to do it, it’s better not to involve yourself, because they will live the way they see you doing.
Timothy learned from his parents and grandparents since when he was young, they trained him to know the Lord, and as he grew up, it became easy for him to follow Christ.
God told the children of Israel to teach their children His law and ordinances so that if they grow up they won’t depart from it, but it’s unfortunate that it’s the opposite they did. That’s why, after the death of Joshua, they deviated from the way to fashioned their own that please their canal nature.
How can you claim to be a Christian and your child is acting contrary to what you learnt, or how can a mother who is fervent in the Lord not train her child that way if she believes that it’s profitable?
I remember when I was young, my parents thought about one pseudo-Christian organisation and their ritualistic ways, saying that I should not go there because the way of their worship is contrary to the teaching of the Bible.
Now, this particular teaching follows me till I grew up to the extent that I have never stepped into that church till now. Anytime I see the church, I will remember my parents teaching.
If Jesus is the way, our children must know Him too and follow His path; whatever we teach them will never leave them, even if they are beyond our reach.
This is what makes our belief extend to our children and go from generation to generation till they’re rooted in Christ, including their children’s children.
It’s because most of our parents don’t have the fear of God at heart; they believe in him but don’t fear him; this extended also to their wards; they see how we behave in the midst of the saints and how we do when we are not in their views; they know how hypocritical we are as parents; that is what they also do.
TheySome women don’t use attachments on their hair, but they attach it to their daughter’s head. They don’t perm their hair, but they do perming for their children.
Did I remember when I was using relaxers for my daughters when I don’t use them? The Holy Spirit asked me, Did I truly want to make heaven and forbid my children from doing so?
What I quickly told them was that I don’t want relaxers in their hair again because I want them to make heaven. What is the benefit of making heaven when your children are languishing in hell?
If they listened to me and started plating their natural hair, how many Christians are reluctant to show them the way? Is it because they are not assured of their beliefs, or are they hypocritical in the things of the kingdom?
God will ask us how we train our children; it won’t be good for us to be in heaven and our children are found in hell. Even some parents will, because of their children, become candidates of hell in the end because they are too myopic to lead their children in the right path.
Prayer: Father lord, teach me your way, o Lord, and don’t let me depart from your law in Jesus name, amen.
