Matt 13:44 (Again, the Kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hid in a field, which, when a man has found it, he hides, and for the joy thereof he goes and selleth all that he has and buys the field.)
Each person in the world is having one kind of relationship with Christ, it’s either on the positive or negative side. Which ever position we had with Christ is the place we will occupy in the presence of God.
Our response to the gospel determines the place He occupies in our lives.
Gospel is the way of advertising Jesus Christ to the world, His worth to you is determined by what you dispose to have Him.
A man saw a field with great treasure, he sold everything he had to possess it, likewise, Christ is the field of great treasure in the life of men, He is in the market square of life, but many rejected Him for other things, which means other things are more valuable than His presence to them.
Judas sold Him for thirty pieces of silver, while Demas sold Him for the pleasure of the world, because those things seems more important than Jesus in their lives. Your attitude to the gospel indicates which side you’re.
It’s either you sell Him for other things or you give your life for His sake, no one can be in the middle ground.
Those who reject the gospel found what’s more important than Him in their life, that’s why they postpone the day of salvation till they get it.
A woman who left church because of an unbeliever man, when the church was against her marriage to unbeliever saw something that’s more important than Jesus, it’s not that she doesn’t love Christ, but she found what she loved more than Him.
Whatever you choose in His replacement, is the price you placed on Him, what is His worth to you?
Many choose wealth or mansion in exchange of Christ.
Many choose fame and riches instead of Him, while many opt for love of men and women in exchange of Christ, some sold Him for bread and fish.
It’s either you reject him for something or you chose him over everything, including your life. Jesus can’t stay as second choice, it’s either Him or nothing.
If Christ means anything to you, whatever you give up to have Him indicates which position he is to you.
Jesus says, whoever wants to follow Him must give up his family, parents including the children to become His disciples.
Biblical Examples
- The ruler in synagogue preferred great riches more than Him, which means that his properties were much worthy than Christ fellowship to him.
- Abraham gave up His only son to abide in the Will of God, this indicates that God is worth more than hundred sons in his sight.
Jesus Christ is worth more than whatever life could give. Our life worths nothing if Christ is not at the center.
Real life starts the moment we encounter Christ. All who are without Him are not living; they remain as walking corpses.
Those who sold Him for morsels are dead while living; they choose death willingly in exchange for the life of God.
It’s hard to get people to be born again.
It demands getting off the throne and surrendering all to Jesus Christ; that’s why people are looking for ways out of life challenges without getting off the stolen throne (of God).
Many churches were established because of this, to let people remain on their stolen throne and still have their way.
They possessed the character of Lucifer, who sat on the throne at the side of the north, claiming to be most high.
They inherited this nature from Satan in the fall; true Christians give up their lives to possess all things; they surrender their totality to Christ to receive eternal life in God.
Jesus is the life of God; he wants us to dump things in order to receive His life; our dead life must be dumped at Calvary to receive the life of God.
We truly need God because He is our tomorrow; without Him there is no tomorrow; we need Him for he is our eternity; whoever exchanges God for things that’s ephemeral loses eternal life forever; He is the guarantee of what will be the resurrection and the life.
God is rating our worth by the choice we made; those who value earthly things more than Christ are worthless in God’s sight and will become disposable like what they value.
Whoever chooses Christ more than the world is more valuable in His sight and will be worthy to sit down with Him in His Father’s kingdom and will dine with Him on the same table at the marriage supper of the Lamb.
The world is passing away with all its lust, likewise those who value it more than Christ.
Jesus Christ is with the capacity to rescue man out of the perishing world.
Whoever prefers him has gotten a lifesaving jacket that will save him out of the drowning world that has been condemned since the foundation of the world.
Those who hold unto the world and still want to have Him are only deceiving themselves. Christ and the world are enmity against each other; it only means they valued the world more than His presence. There must be a divorce, for a woman can’t have two husbands; it’s either the world or Christ.
Whatever you choose above Him has become an obstacle to accessing your heritage in God and a hindrance to entering His presence.
