Matt 6:19 (Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through nor steal.)
I think someone as a sojourner in a strange land is supposed to plan for his return to his father’s house and not make the land his permanent abode.
We’re all strangers and sojourners on earth, and we must prepare for our returns before it’s too late to make amendments.
It’s only a fool who won’t plan for his journey afterwards, and that is what you are if you don’t plan where you will stay forever.
This world is a dressing place for eternity; our stay on earth is temporal and incomparable to where we are going.
It’s a distraction from the fall that’s making men not plan for their future; this future is not here on earth, but the one after, because real life started after leaving the earth.
Hell becomes the abode of everyone who doesn’t have anything to fall on when they die, for they can’t be a nuisance to those who have prepared for their future by sacrificing everything to get to heaven.
Anything that won’t let you advance in your spiritual journey shouldn’t be allowed in your life, for it should not become a hindrance to getting there.
We came to the world with nothing, and we’re leaving with nothing; naked we came, naked we shall go.
Whatever we acquire in the world should be for the betterment of humanity if we want to secure our future.
If we built a mansion, we can’t live in more than a room and can’t sleep on more than a bed; to be rich in the things of life doesn’t necessarily mean we’re rich towards God; your life doesn’t depend on the abundance of riches at your disposal; it’s how you use it to the betterment of humanity that matters.
The richer you become, the more your riches towards God diminish if you don’t utilize them the way they should be.
God makes the rich of the society as His treasurer to care for the needy and put smiles on their faces so that they will glorify God through them; if you can’t do that, you missed the purpose of those riches, and you will give account on that day.
Riches are not given to pile up and become hindrances to our souls in attaining God’s purpose.
Men are preparing for the future on earth without being cognizant of the afterlife. The thing we see on earth is temporal and has no eternal value, but real life is spiritual.
Where are you laying up your treasure?
Jesus Christ told us to secure our treasure in heaven, where moths and thieves won’t destroy or steal; by the time we leave the world, nothing will follow us up there; it’s only what we sent over in helping others and the works of God.
What is your hope for eternity when you refuse to surrender it to eternal life itself, which will become your eternal dwelling place?
Whatever you do to end people’s misery becomes a deposit to your spiritual treasury; what you do to make life easy for others is a saving inside your spiritual bank that is waiting for you in the afterlife.
The Bible says it’s where our treasures are. That is where our heart and our desire will also be; Christians are afraid of death because they don’t have anything up there.
Some men have traveled overseas and are afraid to come back because they don’t have anything to their names on their returns.
So also those who aren’t rich towards God will be afraid to die.
Some people commit suicide when little tragedy occurs to their property on earth because that is where their hope lies; as it ends, so also does their life.
What makes us put everything in this world is greed on our side; this is what was inherited from serpent nature in the fall that makes us depend on what we have and not mind our spiritual state.
He who sows to the flesh will reap corruption, and whatever we have in the world won’t follow us up; it’s only what is sown in the life of others that will speak for us when we leave the world.
Cornelius was a man who always sowed in the lives of others; even though he didn’t know God, God found a way to manifest Himself to him.
Jesus Christ stated the example of the rich man who gathered riches for himself but was not rich in the things of God; his soul was demanded from him at that hour, so also those who only plan for now but not for the future.
Our now is in this world, but the future belongs to eternity; that is where lies the hope of man; whatever we acquired in life will perish with the world, but anything we sow into others’ lives is our insurance for eternal life.
It’s not only in this world; when we sow our life in God, we’re going to gain it back, but if we sow to the things of the flesh, it becomes a waste.
Whatever we do for God counts; it’s in His record and shall be preserved in our eternal future.
What do you do with the heavenly treasures that were deposited in you the day you were created?
God gave it so that you use it to trade and bring souls to His kingdom; most people who were given talents have been lured to divert it to populate the kingdom of darkness in exchange for worldly glory.
You were created to become an addition, not a minus, in divine programs by the talents deposited in you.
All that God deposited in you must be used to glorify his name and bring profit to His kingdom before you leave.
Satan has brought many people over to his side and siphoned all that has been deposited in them to invest in his destructive purpose.
Many Christians are stingy to the core; they are stingy with love and emotion. It’s hard for them to give to others, and they always pray for divine blessings. Even if it was given, what will they use it for if not to satisfy their lustful desire and promote the cause of the devil? That’s why God doesn’t answer some requests, so that it won’t drag His purpose backwards in the life of humanity. There are responsibilities attached to whatever God gives, and it shall be released unto you until you define it.
Prayer: Father, Lord, give me the grace to live my life to the fullest according to your purpose in Jesus’ name, amen.
