Luke 15:17 ( and when he came to himself, he said, how many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough to spare, and I perish with hunger!)
The story of a prodigal son told by Jesus explained the situation of humanity with their spiritual condition.
He collected all his inheritance, went to a strange land, and spent it on riotous living.
After he wasted all he had, a famine occurred In that place, which prompted him to seek solace by feeding pigs; he desired to eat pig’s food due to hunger but it wasn’t given to him.
He later came to himself (so all sinners were never in their right mind) and remembered he had a father somewhere whose servant had more than enough; why must he continue to suffer in a strange land?
Human beings are made in the image of God; all things were created before he was made, which gave him power and authority to command everything on earth to his benefit, in the sea, in the sky, and also on the land.
He strayed from God and lost everything to the hand of his enemy.
Not only that, he was mugged and robbed of everything to the extent of losing his memory and forgetting his identity and his origin; it’s another power that turned him into who he is by giving him a degrading identity different than who he was.
We are roaming around the earth, head bent, waiting for the expiry date to depart without knowing our destinations.
The solution for man is to come to his senses, discover their wretched state, and recover his identity.
Jesus Christ came to show man who he is, not what his enemy made him; he became man so man could be identified with his Creator and reconcile with Him.
We are the lost sheep whom the Lord abandoned the ninety-nine to bring back home back to his bosom.
We are lost in the world roaming around without a purpose, strangers are giving us identity, slaves are acting like masters, new name was given which is different from the original called by God; we are languishing in the slavery of the devil while our heavenly father is waiting to welcome us the moment we come to our selves like the prodigal son.
There is no place to turn to and no one to help us and relocate to where we came from. Religion, with its ritual, can’t help; it’s the only way man devised by himself to seek the face of God.
Strangers give us names our creator didn’t give us, Dorcas was named a prostitute and husband snatcher, while Mary is the one tending to them at hotels, brother John is the head of armed robbers, and Samson is the leader of a bandit organization.
We, by ignorance, pay obeisance to the one who put us in bondage and look for his favor by giving him a reverence in whatever we do.
Sons of the kingdom become slaves to the power of darkness and turned into errand boys to the powers that put their generation in captivity.
It’s the death and resurrection of our Lord that open our spiritual understanding and bring us back to our senses with the quickened power of the holy spirit.
We realized that we have a Father somewhere expecting our return to his presence, standing at the door of our heart, knocking expecting us to open the door and allow him to come and inhabit his original place from the beginning.
This is the time for you to come to your senses and realize your wretched situation like the prodigal son. Come to yourself and relinquish your foolish desire; come to your senses and relocate to your father’s presence where you shall be celebrated, not the place you’ll be tolerated.
Sin is spiritual, moral, and emotional madness; the day a man comes to himself is the day of his healing; it’s madness that’ll make man leave his father’s watchful eyes to seek carnal pleasure for himself.
It’s madness that made the prodigal son leave his father’s house to a strange land to live a riotous life and lose all his substances.
You need to come back to yourself to realize how much moral and spiritual damages you’ve inflicted on yourself in the time of your foolishness.
Whoever died in that kind of spiritual lethargy without experiencing the life of God that’ll bring him back to his right senses will experience the second death meant for sinners.
There is no damage without repair if it’s not too late. If you can relocate on time to your father’s bosom, now is the time for salvation; don’t wait till tomorrow. It might be too late.
It’s madness that’ll make you call normal things abnormal; those who dress to please themselves are condemning the ones who dress to please their savior.
Is it the one who dresses naked on the street or the one who covers his body for honor and spiritual protection to guide the heart of men from going haywire that is mad?
Some are in the church but yet to come to themselves, their eyes are still close to what belongs to their peace, some people saw Jesus Christ hanging on the Cross and mocked Him, while the thief at His side realized his state that need urgent solution; his eyes was opened to see the solution to the problem of the world by his side, he immediately cried for help, while the ignorant who refused to come to their sense keep on jesting till that opportunity passed by.
It’s only God that can make you realize your situation and open your spiritual understanding; if not, the person will remain in spiritual lethargy till death takes him and will result in second death.
It’s not in the power of your hand to realize your situation, many were warned but said, “Don’t judge me” Many dine with Him on earth and didn’t realize who He is, God appeared in their midst in human form, but couldn’t recognize Him and missed their time of visitation.
Some kings and queens with many prophets wished to see the day of the son of man but couldn’t; the son of man is in our midst in His glorious form; we couldn’t recognize Him, while some take it for granted to regret later and weep for eternity.
Prayer: My Father and my God, turn all your backsliding children to your side in your mercy, don’t allow them to perish with the world, in Jesus name. Amen.
